Gulliver of Mars

US Navy officer Gulliver finds himself transported by extraordinary means to the planet, Mars. Soon after his arrival, Gullivar finds himself face to face with all manner of danger. He sees the most terrifying of monsters and finds himself involved in epic battles. Gullivar also finds his heart being drawn to a Martian princess... None of Gullivar's experiences have prepared him for his adventures on the Red Planet. BEFORE JOHN CARTER... There are obvious and clear similarities between Gulliver of Mars and Edgar Rice Burroughs' more famous John Carter books set on Mars - the military man transported to Mars by mystic means, who falls in love with a Martian princess and becomes involved in adventures, though the novel was met with such an insipid reception that it cause Edwin Arnold to stop writing fiction. It is now considered his most famous work. The novel was originaly published as Lieut. Gullivar Jones: His Vacation, but has later been reissued as Gullivar of Mars and Gulliver of Mars.
