Hell's Angels Revisited

While researching narcotics for his law school's journal, a young man known only as "the Owl" finds himself swooping in and out of some of California's most impenetrable and notorious motorcycle clubs and secret societies: invite-only S& M house parties, the Sinaloa cartel, the Church of Satan, Burning Man camps, and even the alleged Gay Hip Hop Illuminati. Written on the 50th anniversary of Dr. Hunter Thompson's pivotal novel, the Owl's trip is a psychedelic, queer-infused reimagination of the birth of gonzo journalism. Speaking through stream-of-consciousness, the Owl, insufferably unreliable as a narrator, struggles to recount what lead him into organized crime, through spasms of drugs withdrawals, denials, deceptions, and hallucinations, all while eroding away his faith in the US justice system and growing increasingly hostile towards law enforcement. Unlike Dr. Thompson's original "Hell's Angels," Snow dives into the dirt with low profile street gangs, placing himself amidst rivaling factions and leaving more secrets hidden in the reader's subconscious than can be printed, in good taste, on the page. The result is a maze of absurd violence, unrepentant hedonism, technicolor insanity, and ultimately, a real nasty good time. This is the first novel in Snow's gonzo journalism series. Each novel in the series can be read either independently as a standalone book or in sequential order. With illustrations by John-Ross Boyce.
