Maggie was abandoned by her mother when she needed her the most, she then married a country boy from Tennessee and moved there to get away from her uncaring family. In Tennessee she raises a rebellious daughter and is never really accepted in her community. Her husband leaves her alone most night to go to his club and visit his lovers. Finally Maggie decides she needs to do something for herself and buys a computer. The computer becomes her door to a new world. She finds new friends who talk to her and encourage her to concur her dream of becoming a writer. These new friends also introduce her into a world of internet relationships, some even involving putting on sexy shows for each other. At first it is fun, and dangerous and she discovers that she can satisfy her needs without a man touching her, just having him watch her, teasing him, showing him what he can't have made her feel in charge and sexy. But soon that is not enough, she wanted a connection, she wanted to feel the heat of someone who wanted her. She then began meeting her new friends. Tragedy then strikes and her daughter is killed and Maggie spirals out of control. But one man is there who loves Maggie, and she him yet they can't be together because of family obligations. They meet and have some sexy, loving times together, but each time they must return to their families. Families that don't care, and don't love them. In the end their family obligations have resolved themselves, their unsatisfying sex life ends, and they can finally be together promising never to make any more connections on the internet, because they had the only connection they needed.
