A VOICE OF WARNING is the foundational extra-canonical writing for the LDS Church. As the very first of its kind, Parley P. Pratt developed this text into the first missionary training tract, theological commentary, and text as a commentary about the restoration. Pratt became one of the great LDS thinkers of the first generation of the church. A Voice of Warning, at one point was recommended to the Prophet Joseph Smith to be considered as canon for the church, although never fully accepted as such, it was also not denied or the notion rejected. A Voice of Warning, is an apostolic declaration and first apologetic response to the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. There is no other non-canonical text which has influenced the foundational thoughts of early Latter-day Saints and missionaries. THE LDS CRITERION COLLECTION is a collection of key historic documents and text that were foundational to the development of the theory, theology, and development of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Readers and researchers should find great value in the raw sources of these historic writings.
