WWYD? As a hurricane brews, Tess Daniels and her friends are kidnapped by a time-traveling scientist with plans to use them to change history. They're zapped through a quantum portal to ancient Egypt where they discover the mythological gods are genetically engineered human-animal chimera. Trapped in the Giza compound by modern panoptican technology, the teens make a deal that will allow them to return home. But when Tess obtains the information that allows her to time travel, will she keep her promise to her friends or break her word and try to save her mother from a fatal accident? When Tess Daniels finds out she shares an out-of-body experience with newcomer Nick Sacré-Stockton, she can't wait to find out more about this familiar stranger. Armandville High School senior Tess Daniels and her best friend, Millicent "Mills" Williams play a lot of soccer. It keeps Tess distracted from her guilty conscience and strained relationship with her father, a college professor in the sleepy South Louisiana college town. Nick Sacré-Stockton just moved to Armandville from the Big Apple, and he is less than thrilled about the lack of entertainment and cell service in the remote village where his parents have dragged him. Tess and Nick meet at school one afternoon after a particularly long seventh period. Later that day they attend a university social and meet an Egyptologist, Dr. Remes, who invites them to a private showing of the antiquities exhibit in town. They soon learn the truth of Virgil's ancient wisdom: "Beware of Greeks bearing gifts."
