Waiting on God and Working for God
Andrew Murray
Publisher Marketing: In Matthew 7:21-23 Jesus tells us: "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord, ' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name and in Your name drive out demons and in Your name perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from Me, you evildoers!' Notice that in this scripture many people "worked for God" but they did NOT do so in obedience to God. Also they failed to avoid the evil of sin and disobedience in their life. If they had "waited on God" they would've heard from God, and so God would've showed and helped them get out of their sinning as well as directly giving them what specific things that HE wanted done in their lives. This is why waiting on God is so very important. So that you know what the "work of God" that He specifically wants You to do. This is eternally very serious as Jesus tells us in Matthew 7:21-23. Always keep this in mind as you read this excellent work from Andrew Murray, as well as the rest of your life as you follow the Lord in your life. In fact you really can't follow the Lord unless you BOTH Wait on God and Work for God - as HE directs and not according to your own self-will.
