The author has practiced Kendo for nearly forty years and has studied with many of the best instructors in America. Ken Strawn was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, and served in Viet Nam as a Marine Helicopter crew chief and door gunner. He attended Wake Forest University, then moved to California where he worked for computer company Four-Phase Systems. Returning to North Carolina fifteen years later, he became a middle school teacher and coach.
