The Last Real Cowboy

Within the pages of this book are the recollections, reminiscences, and remembrances of Roscoe Strickland, the man I refer to as "The Last Real Cowboy." They are not only the unique and intriguing stories of his life, but a living anecdotal history of the Southeastern United States during a dramatic and turbulent century. Entering into that world - seeing it through the eyes of a man who lived it, and lived it fully; hearing in his own words, the descriptions of everyday life as well as significant historical events, opens the door to a better understanding of who we are today, who our parents and grandparents were, and how we have come to sustain some of our ancestral culture while losing other parts of it.
