?My Mother Warned Me About Me" will likely have two or possibly three volumes. The first of which covers ?The First 13 Years? of Penny O'Toole?s life. She is the youngest child, born in 1956 to a fairly large, upper, middle class family, which originated from Ireland. Having moved with her parents as they moved from pillar to post and eventually to Jersey, she now lives in the UK. A powerful, dramatic, emotional and sometimes, humorous storyline unfolds as her life plummets from bad to worse, when her Nana left. Penny was bullied at home, expelled from boarding school, raped at knife-point, lost interest in school and indeed, in herself. She got in with the wrong crowd and became totally anti-authoritarian. Yet she only ever wanted love and understanding. Unfortunately, such luxuries were non-existent in her life. After having endured many years of ill treatment, Penny rebelled and, at the age of thirteen, she began to fight back. She took her parents to court for mental and physical cruelty, lost her case, became a ?Ward of Court? and was sent to the infamous Haut de la Garenne ?for an indefinite period of time.?
