Publisher Marketing: Sonia Maria Rojas-Lopez has kept a journal most of her life, she writes about her life growing up in West Tampa during the 60's as if it is someone else's. This story follows Sonia's life from 1962 until she finally finds what she has been searching for most of her life, a man. Sonia, didn't look like most of the kids in her West Tampa neighborhood, she was different. She was petite, looking more like an eight-year-old, than an eleven- year-old. Her light complexion and waist length reddish blond hair made her stick out among all the olive skinned, brunette kids. She certainly didn't look or act like a typical Cuban American pre-teen from West Tampa. Sonia's parents and family have sheltered and spoiled her. And her father is determined to keep her a little girl and chaste until she is eighteen. Sonia had other plans, she even insisted on being called, "Sunny." It was the early Sixties, a time of enormous social change all over the world. All Sunny wanted was to be a normal American teenager, but God and fate weren't going to make it easy for her. Sunny Rose was an Alpha Female, witty, quick tongued, ambitious, intelligent, provocative, sensual, she had a feminine (tinted with masculine) aura and above all she loved the men in her life, especially Marcus Cruz, her first love and her addiction. And an enigmatic man she had been dreaming of since she was eleven years old and searching for over thirty five years. In a cruel twist of fate, she finds her mystery man and he is young, really young, twenty-five to be honest. But as with everything in Sunny's life, she throws caution to the wind and follows her heart. Contributor Bio: Courtney, Edee Edee Courtney was born at the height of the Baby Boom, 1950, in Raleigh, North Carolina. She ended up a little fair haired Cracker girl in the predominantly Latino neighborhood of West Tampa, Florida in the early 60's, when her mother married her marvelous step-father. She attributes her love of writing to three people, her Junior High School English teacher Mr. Lindsay. Her High School English teacher, Mrs. Gail Gallagher, who encouraged her to keep a journal, and Mr. Buddy Tappe her High School, History teacher, who instilled in her a great love for Rod McKuen and modern poetry. Sunny, Marcus, Trebor and the rest of her characters were born from the pages of Edee's lifetime of journaling. Edee is married, and has four wonderful children and eleven amazing grand-children. She worked for over thirty years in the music industry, and just recently retired and has pursued her lifelong dream of writing a book or four about the characters she created years ago.
