Clarimonde' is a short story originally published in French, in 1836, under the title 'La Morte Amoureuse' (in English: 'The Dead Woman in Love'). It tells the story of Romauld, a priest, who falls in love with the title character, Clarimonde. She, however, is a vampire, and Romauld begins to struggle with discerning reality from illusion. This is a classic vampiric romance and a must read for anyone with a passion for the genre. We are republishing this book with a brand new introductory biography of the translator of the work, Lafcadio Hearn.
