A Simplicity Revolution: Finding Happiness in the New Reality

A SIMPLICITY REVOLUTION: FINDING HAPPINESS IN THE NEW REALITY, is a book that examines the Great Recession in detail from a  cultural and political perspective, as well as the world recession.

Schell explains, "Optimism had been a mainstay since the post-World War II days. Few of us expected the economic slowdown would be more than a pause- but it wasn't. This book is a commentary on America's Boom and Bust decade and the "Corporatocracy," that caused it. You will be able to read the history of what brought America to such lopsided economic disparity in lifestyles and incomes. The sort that is capable of tearing at the social fabric of any nation, and which ultimately, can result in social unrest, class warfare-aka. The Occupy Wall Street sorts of protests.

The book is divided into chapters full of practical advice to assist readers on their personal lifestyle journeys. Schell explains, "We can clearly see today that America's desire to "supersize" everything was unsustainable. Those Hummers and McMansions now seem quite ridiculouos, don't they?"

What economists refer to as America's "New Normal," Author Sue Schell calls our "New Reality." She writes, "After millions of people lost their jobs and some ultimately their homes, we had heightened anxiety over the possibility that America's best days may be behind us? Would our American Dream survive for future generations? What was to become of the vanishing middle class?

Cultural Anthropology Professor Dr. Robert Launay, of Northwestern University, Evanston, IL penned the forward to the book. He writes, "The challenges we are facing are new, and so the solutions and values we forge to meet them must also be new. Here, Sue Schell has hit the nail on the head."

Schell stresses that a simple life is not about frugality, alone. It is about living an authentic life that lets you be true to your values with a positive attitude toward everyone and everything in your life. Once again, people are realizing that what really is important in their lives cannot be found in the "stuff" that we purchase. Our true happiness and satisfaction really can only come from our relationships with family and friends, once we are able to find inner peace and gratification. Therefore, the simpler we live our lives; surely contentment, joy and serenity can become more achievable, hence allowing a person to find happiness in this tougher economic realities, we now are living with.

Wouldn't it be wonderful is this proved to be the silver lining we discover from living through this Great Recession?
