A Short History of the Wolf in Britain
James Edmund 1841 Harting
Originally published in 1880. The wolf in the British Isles became extinct around 1760. Until that time wolves were to be found in almost every county in England and Wales, while in Scotland and Ireland they were even more numerous. This illustrated book is a detailed history of the early evolution of the wolf in Britain and how it was eventually hunted and trapped to extinction. It also includes early notes on the Wolfhound or Wolf-Dog. Many of the earliest natural history books, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. Home Farm Books are republishing many of these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork.
