The Life of William Cowper

Thomas Wright, a long-time Cowper scholar, wrote an extremely comprehensive biography of the pre-Romantic 18th century English poet. He was able to avail himself of collections of Cowper's letters and of the unpublished journals of a number of Cowper's friends. At the time of original publication in 1892, Thomas Wright was Principal of Cowper School, Olney, and was also the author of The Town of Cowper. This title is cited and recommended by the Cambridge Bibliography of English Literature.
