William Parker Greenough
Originally published in 1897, this is considered among the very best books on the folklore of 19th century Quebec. Many of it's settlers were from Celtic Brittany. Much of it's religious ritual and costume is as well. This book is entertaining as it is insightful by a American collecting folklore as he enjoyed the vibrant culture of the French Canadians. The author is considered one of the few systematic explorers of Canadian folklore - compiled during author's frequent sojourns to the region.
