The trek West by handcart was a unique event in settling of the Mormon's in Utah. The emigrants, craftsmen and their families whose passage to America was paid by the Mormon Church, knew little of the hardships they would encounter. Roxanna Jensen had not wanted to emigrate because of her romantic interest in Bradford Kensington, an Earl's son. She is surprised to find him on the same ship. Will being in America make any difference for them romantically?
