The Provincial Mind appeared in the Quarterly Review; The Times has allowed me to use material contributed to its literary supplement in the articles on Don Juan Sterne, and Fielding; I reprint a few short articles from the A cademyy and some lengthier efforts from the Fortnightly Review and the Pall Mall Magazine, G. S. S.
