The Ultimate Guide To Life For Men With Mental Illness

So... You admitted to someone (anyone) you agonize over a mental health issue, and nothing changed, right? Irrrational as it appeared: abandonment, ignorance, forced-upon solitude was what came instead of needed and hoped for "support & care". It hurts something awful; i get it. The silence all around us in this dis-ease we are swimming in only adds misery and pain. Even more so when we wish in our minds it were not that way, and wonder in our hearts if we are indeed alone and forsaken in it. Make no mistake here: assistance usually comes in ways unexpected and most often unseen by the eye.
There are many books found easily which deal with mental health. So why was this book written and why should a 'real dude' bother reading it? Because, broski, there are few (if any, really) mental health books in the system just for men. And not just for "any man" -- for you, the authentic man, who knows damn well that other men don't get where you are coming from, no matter how much hard-pressed effort you (and i) put forth to be understood. It's almost as if each of us is alone and must suffer through it individually.
This book is here because i -- a sufferer of a life-long mental issue as well as the oldest son of a great man who suffered fatally -- saw the need: a book for men refusing to label (manic, depressive, psychotic, delusional --- "they" list it; do your best to ignore it). A book that bars the damned lies about our "responsibility for becoming wrong-men". A book that does not punch our crotches with coerced resignation to being flaccid due to being broken. This is a book written by an authentic yet broken man, for other broken men who wish to become authentic.
Thus, I wrote this book for you, my brother, because I care about you. I may never meet you, but I wish I could! I wrote it because I was once right there, right where you are today. You might call me a "born-loser" who didn't figure out the good ideas written in this book until I was in my 30s and already married with children - very late in life I must reluctantly admit. Yes, I was hard-headed and ignorant and rebellious for far too long, and none of that benefited me an iota. That was 100% my choice and my fault. Thankfully, a solid Virtuous-Smack (upside my head!) gave me the initial drips of courage and first steps to change my life for the better, and my mental health improved immensely. And now I want to help you while it can still be easy for you to change your circumstances. I want you to know that you are not forever 'stuck' where you are right now with bad mental health. I want you to know that life is full of decisions, and that positive changes for your mental health can happen if you put your own efforts and faith into them. Note: to achieve the change you know you want, some of the effort is going to be downright blisteringly painful. You do have the possibility for positive change right in front of you, though. I did. All men do. Why not take it? Is there any good reason not to?!
That's why I wrote this book: for you to become a better man, to become mentally healthy once again. Life is short. Keep it simple and beautiful, and the world will easily be at your feet. There are unlimited possibilities in your life. You are a child of God, and you have every right to be here and make your life what you will as best as you can. Know all that in your heart as you read this book. And if this book isn't interesting to you, no biggie, dude. I didn't write it for financial gain or fame. You and me can therefore smile and agree to separate space as good men do, and move ourselves on. Please, though, accept this one last parting note: it may seem like you are "alone and foresaken" because the silence and ignorance all around you in your (and my) suffering is almost unendurable pain. Take heart and encourage yourself to believe the opposite, because, the truth is, you aren't.
