Waking Lisa

Lisa is a self-confident teenager, even though her classmates refer to her as stupid or freak: stupid because she knows nothing about TV shows, movies, or music; and freak because she occasionally falls asleep in class and cannot be wakened by any means.

Lisa confided a secret to Doctor Jamison, her psychiatrist; that she cannot be wakened because she is not sleeping, but is actually in the book she is reading. Jamison's gift is to recognize the truth; he claims these dreams go to her brain as a false memories. Lisa likes Jamison and says they are soulmates.

Jamison uses hypnotherapy with success, until Lisa experiences what she calls her adventures into Gospel stories. Now, he fears she no longer wishes to prevent the sleep episodes, since she claims she met Jesus in her adventures.

Lisa's life is in danger when she begins sleep-walking. Her medical team recommend a service dog for her protection. Gideon and his handsome trainer, George, come into Lisa's life. Gideon looks like Andrew's dog she has seen in her Gospel adventures.

Doctor Jamison, a seeker of truth, must consider whether truth and reality are the same thing.
