Humanity gave up. Instead of reaching for the stars, humankind built a Dyson Sphere around their Sun and retreated into it to live within virtual worlds for the remainder of their species' existence. Emily, an elite Guardian of the endless simulations housed by the Dyson Sphere, works to preserve the remnants of humanity who are oblivious to the true nature of their civilization. Enhanced with a companion AI and a less-than-trustworthy parasite, Emily has never faced a challenge she could not overcome.
