The Oracle predicts that the 17th century empire of Shalimaar is nearing doom. When Crown Prince, Zeb Shahnim falls ill, his brother, Prince Mikal believes the prophecy is coming true. Unwilling to lose Zeb a young woman is summoned from the future. This is the Fated One, whom the Oracle says will save Shalimaar. Things don't go as planned when assassins are involved, Zeb dies and Mikal is unwillingly put on the throne. Politics comes at a price, Emperor Mikal fails to pay and finds himself stripped of his title and sent into exile. Now everyone wants him dead. Mikal must come to terms with himself. At his side are the Guardians, a brash bunch of lads and ladies. Together they journey through Shalimaar. The empire is struggling to keep its feet. Mikal learns that he must reclaim the throne otherwise Shalimaar falls. He and the Guardians embark on a quest to liberate the people and rescue Shalimaar from crumbling in the wrong hands.
