Poetry in a Time of Pandemic
St Andrew's Episcopal Church
St. Andrew's 2021 Poetry Contest asked writers to reflect on the past year - a global pandemic, economic devastation, confronting our legacy of slavery and social injustice, political turmoil - and to share their thoughts on the impact of these events. Specifically they wanted to know, "However you experience the divine, where do you see God working through the chaos?" Responses came from writers of all ages, faiths, denominations, and locations. Some were published poets, some were clergy, most were neither. In their poetry, the writers draw on personal circumstances to search for meaning in the universal experience of the COVID-19 pandemic.
