Secretly Wild

Seventh book in a survival series. Survival has moved from the wilds to civilization. I've moved throughout the series from as free as it is possible to be, to being a prisoner and felon in this part of the series. I record prison life, stories I hear, and it is not much like the public is told. Anyone who is interested in following a dream, living off the grid, being free and independent should learn something and be entertained by my experiences. Through it all I feel blessed, lucky, and successful. Mostly. Well it's all about attitude. Many things affect life in the wilds, off the grid, or just 'out of the box.' Issues of freedom, conservation, gun rights, land use, discrimination, democracy, and global warming are seen through the eyes of an individual speaking as it happens in first person. Rewards, prices to pay, choices we make. In book 1, back in the 70's survival was about personal wilderness skills. As I lived my life over the years, survival has become a global issue. If civilization does not survive, I will be affected. The laws of man, as well as Nature's laws rule supreme. It is difficult to follow both sets of laws without offending either God or Man. I believed I had a workable balance of rules to live by. In this book 7, I am arrested, do jail time, and am now a felon. I meet some interesting people, learn a lot about justice, freedom, and democracy. 'Wild' is viewed from a different perspective. Do my wilderness skills serve me well in prison? Have I been rehabilitated? Is society and the planet a safer place now? What is a subsistence life of freedom and depending on the land like as a felon after I am turned loose? Choices, rewards, and prices to pay. What is expected, is that I show accountability, responsibility for crimes. I must prove I have been rehabilitated, and the world is now safer, having properly punished me. Has this been accomplished? The politics of 'off the grid' should be of interest to anyone who enjoys independence.
