The Tangled Web: a True Story of Lies

"Now it's your turn..."

With those words, I was reeled into a ten-month relationship with "Jonathan," an intelligent, cultured British gentleman who was everything that I had ever wanted in a partner. Or so it seemed. Only when it was too late would I realize that, in truth, I had become entangled with a cunning psychopath whose web of deceit had snared countless others, whose talent for manipulation had wreaked enormous suffering in the lives of his victims, and who would seek revenge when his tangle of lies began to unravel.

The Tangled Web is a detailed exploration of the behavior of one example of the "typical" psychopath, that is, the type that the average person is most likely to encounter. In addition, it explores many of the ways in which psychopaths are able to deceive, manipulate, and exploit the rest of us by using our personal and psychological weaknesses against us. Further, it is a "survival guide" that examines some of the steps that victims of "typical" psychopaths should take to begin to free themselves from the psychological damage that is the inevitable result of entanglement with a psychopath. Finally, it examines many of the ways in which we can recognize psychopathic personalities for what they truly are before we become entangled in their webs of deceit, manipulation, and damage.
