Reverend Jonathan Westley, a handsome, charismatic, successful and respected minister, is determined to right the ills and wrong-doings that plague his small North Carolina city. The proliferation of drugs, guns, prostitution, joblessness and violent crime, cause him to do a lot of soul-searching about his religious convictions vs. the vile image of politics. Against the emotional pleadings of his wife, two teenage children, and the wise counsel of his in-laws, relatives and friends, he throws his hat into the political fray for the Office of Mayor "and the good of God and City". To everyones' surprise, he wins the Primary. With bolstered ego, he forges ahead with determination to win in the main election. The campaign politics heats up and gets dirtier. A murder is committed. His homosexual son is accused and arrested. Inuendo, gossip and suspicion run rife that he is having an affair. His wife threatens to leave him, and his position at the church is threatened. He becomes an investigative detective to help clear his son. He is robbed and nearly killed. Through all his trials and tribulations, he keeps the faith, and trusts in Godhis Saviorwhile helping God by helping himself.
