Dr. David Richards has turned his out-of-body experience after a bicycle accident when he was 12 into a successful career writing books on the subject of astral travel. He believes out-of-body travel is the "last frontier" for mankind that will lead to a new breed of astralnauts who will explore the galaxies without the aid of cumbersome space ships. On a national book tour, his life becomes very complicated by Annie McGovern, an attractive near-death researcher, who has lost one of her test subjects out in the ether somewhere and can't get him back. Dr. Richards' fame has also captured the interest of the U. S. Army's "Special Division" at the Pentagon. They want to use him as an invisible spy. Dr. Richards' book tour is thrown into chaos when his invisible spying for the Army turns up a terrorist bent on revenge. Somehow he must prevent his physical death while stuck out-of-body, and stopping the terrorist from murdering Annie, too.
