This book represents a unique perspectivethe history of Pierre Falcon and the Metis people from the 1800s as reconstructed by Falcon's great great grandson, Louis Ritchotte. Mr. Falcon's story is one of a man who lived and fought for the dignity and rights of the Metis, whose mixed IndianEuropean heritage often kept them from being accepted in either culture. He relates the family history and, thus, tells part of the story of the Metis in the Red River Settlement region in Manitoba, Canada, and North Dakota.
