Contributor Bio: Holden, Katherine Edith Holden was born in 1871, one of seven children of a Midlands paint manufacturer. The family lived in the small village of Olton in Warwickshire, and it was there that she wrote and illustrated this book. After attending art school, she worked as an illustrator, and her drawings were published in several books. Tragically, she drowned in 1920, in the Thames at Kew, while gathering buds from chestnut trees. Contributor Bio: Markus, Mario Mario Markus, Professor Emeritus at the University of Dortmund, Germany, was born in Santiago de Chile, where he lived for twenty years, except for one year as an exchange student in Oklahoma. He studied Physics in Heidelberg, Germany, where he earned his PhD in 1973. Later on he became a research group leader at the Max-Planck-Institute in Dortmund. He has published more than 160 scientific articles in international journals about self- organization and chaos in Chemistry, Physics and Biology. His first poetry book, Poemas de Invierno appeared 1990 in Madrid. In 2005 he won a contest through the Chilean Department of State to produce an audio book containing his translations of Chilean poetry into German. His science-fiction novel Bilis Negra (2001) was converted into a successful comic. Markus' book Charts for Prediction and Chance (2007) features software for drawing surrealistic pictures using mathematical formulae. Pictures obtained in this way were shown in exhibitions in several countries, including the USA, the UK and Germany. CHEMICAL POEMS - ONE ON EACH ELEMENT (Dos Madres Press, 2013) is his latest book.
