His research interests include Victorian and Edwardian fiction, the periodical press and reception histories and he has published artciles in a range of journals including "Etudes Anglaises," "Trollopiana," and the "Victorian Periodicals' Review." He has contributed essays to the "New Dictionary of National Biography "and to "British Women Writers "(Greenwood Press, 2000) and is general editor of the series "Varieties of Women's Sensation Fiction "(2004). He is also one of the editors of the jorunal "Critical Survey.""" JENNIFER PHEGLEY is associate professor of English at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, USA. She is the author of "Educating the Proper Woman Reader: Victorian Family Literary Magazines and the Cultural Health of the Nation" (2004) and co-editor of "Reading Women: Literary Figures and Cultural Icons from the Victorian Age to the Present" (2005). She is writing a book on Victorian courtship and marriage and working on a collection of essays on transatlantic sensationalism.
