Eddie 'lockjaw' W. The Pat Smythe Trio & Ha Davis
(2-CD set for the price of one CD) Eddie Davis gained his nickname "Lockjaw" from the title of one of his earliest recordings. His sax style was the product of both R&B and an apprenticeship in the swing bands of Cootie Williams (alongside Charlie Parker), Andy Kirk & others in the mid-'40s. Later he became famous for his association with Count Basie. Here Lockjaw blows his best at an English venue with an international quality British group, The Pat Smythe Trio & Harlod McNair. These are never before released tracks.
