Documentary following six young dancers from around the world hoping to prove their balletic ability at the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix in New York. Each year, thousands of dancers enter hoping to win a place in the finals, but only 300 places are available for those who show real determination in the face of such tough competition. 16-year-old Joan Sebastian Zamora tells of his dream to become a world famous dancer but also of the pressure he is under from his parents and himself to perform at the very high standard of the competition; and Michaela DePrince, who was born in Sierra Leone but adopted by an American family, discusses how her body type is believed to be a disadvantage in the world of ballet.
