Davidson's Inlet is about love, sex, and MURDER! Kate and Jim Stanley live in Michigan's upper peninsula, but they both have jobs that bring them to Chicago. Kate writes a column for the Chicago Tribune while Jim is a financial advisor. They have a fight and Jim goes to Chicago alone. But not for long! He has an affair on the train and soon finds himself involved in the brutal murder of a debutante. Kate comes to his rescue, but not before she also has a delicious romp with the same women! Jim and a client end up on Division Street where Jim meets the young woman in question, but they quarrel and Jim is tossed out of Butch McGuires at her request. She is later found brutally murdered and raped. Jim becomes a suspect and then the prime witness in the case. For fear of assassination, he is put under close police protection. During the hearing, he undergoes a withering cross examination. Not going to tell you how it ends except to say it's worth the read.
